October 13, 2020 — OIN has made international headlines, including as far away as Russia.  OpenNet.ru’s article, “Linux Patent Protection Program Includes 520 New Packages,” highlights the list of additions now included in the Linux System. Now there are 3,393 Open Source Software packages that are cross-licensed between OIN’s 3,300+ global community members royalty free. These companies gain access to patents — both through the community cross-license, as well as the OIN owned pool of an additional 1,300 patents — in exchange for their commitment not to sue for the use of technologies in the Linux System. OIN membership is free and any Open Source and patent non-aggression advocate – individuals and businesses —  are invited to join. The article is in Russian.
