June 9, 2026 — Becoming the 1st major Korean companies to join OIN 2.0, Hyundai & Kia are participating in Open Invention Network’s new Open Source patent non-aggression initiative launched earlier this year.
By committing to OIN 2,0, the automakers are helping strengthen the largest active patent cross-license in history and the greater Open Source ecosystem. Hyundai Motor & Kia now stand alongside such industry leaders as Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Subaru & Toyota in recognizing Open Source as a critical foundation for next-generation vehicle development.
