Protecting the Worldwide Movement of Goods
Sealed Air started with 2 engineers and an idea for wallpaper in 1957 when Alfred W. Fielding and Marc Chavannes set out to create a new wall covering by laminating 2 plastic sheets with air bubbles in between. Although their invention never caught on, they discovered their new material’s light weight and insulating properties were very useful as greenhouse insulation and as the packing material we now know as BUBBLE WRAP®. In 1960, Fielding and Chavannes founded Sealed Air Corporation with their signature brand — BUBBLE WRAP®. The company also owns Jiffy Packaging, Instapak®, CRYOVAC®, Dri-Lock®, Mail Lite™ and their own brand, among other packaging technologies. The Charlotte, NC-based company helps solve resource challenges by delivering end-to-end services and solutions resulting in a more efficient, secure, and less wasteful global food supply chain. The company employs over 16,500 people, operates 106 manufacturing facilities and 39 packaging and application centers around the world.
