LINUX SYSTEM DEFINITION NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN
If you have Open Source tech packages and/or applications you want protected from patent attacks, nominate them today! Deadline is November 21st @ 12 am EST.
We touched base with you last month and appreciate all of you who reached out to your Senators. Thanks in part to your efforts, the Senate canceled the committee meeting on PREVAIL & PERA entirely, scrapping it at the last minute, and now Congress is now in recess, but it was a great outcome that was possible only because of collaboration.
Lobbyists may try again in the next session after the election but will certainly try again next term. But what a setback. They tried hard — and failed — to get enough votes to pass these bad bills out of committee at the 11th hour & advance them for next term. Instead, they went nowhere. Our collective efforts also helped reveal their argument flaws, & will give us time to counter their false narratives. We will continue to oppose these efforts to roll back the clock & patent litigation.
